Expansion Google brings Android One devices to Turkey By Jared DiPane Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 1:18 pm EDT 4 Comments 60 207 92 0 Turkey is the latest country to join the Android One initiative, following India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka and several others.
Google's Android One program is hitting Turkey with a new device from General Mobile. This will be the first Android One device with 4G, and will run on the country's new LTE network. The device itself, the General Mobile 4G, features a 5-inch HD IPS display, 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon chip with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, and runs Lollipop. With a 13MP rear camera, and 5MP front camera, users will be able to capture and share their favorite images on Turkey's new 4G network. The device is priced at 699 TL ($262), which is higher than other Android One devices we have seen, but also offers better internals.
The goal is to be able to put affordable hardware in the hands of users to empower them, and to take full advantage of the new network.
