Get a new one. Don't like your grey keyboard? Theme it up! Got the same ringtone as that annoying co-worker at the other end of the newsroom? Just don't like the lame sounds that came with your sweet new phone? No problem. Once you get the hang of it, the world is your ringtone.

When you want to add a new sounds to your ringtones or notifications options, the most basic method is to add the desired files to the Ringtones, Notifications, or Alarms folders using either a PC or your choice of file manager app. Your new tones need to be MP3 files, and some devices may have size limits for ringtones and sounds. Now, this will work on all Android devices, but that doesn't mean it's the only method on all devices.
Certain files apps allow you to set a ringtone right there in the explorer, and phones from some manufacturers like Samsung allow you to add ringtones right there in the ringtone selection window with an Add button. These can allow you to add music to your sound selections.
For those without that handy little option, once you've added the new sounds to these folders and rebooted your device, they'll appear in the Settings app alongside the pre-loaded ringtones, notification sounds, and alarms. When you select a sound, it'll play unless your phone is currently silenced, allowing you to get a glimpse of how loud/soft it will be in normal use before you confirm your choice.
There are also certain ringtone curation apps like Zedge that will allow you to set ringtones and other sounds directly within the app, streamlining the process if you get your ringtones from them. If you already have your ringtones, or make them yourself, this method isn't quite as helpful, but for those still browsing, it can be quite helpful.
